高禹镇中学 陈佳佳
Hello, judges, ladies and gentlemen. I am a sunny girl from Class3, Grade3 of Gaoyu Middle School. It’s my great honer to take part in this oral competition. And thank you for giving me a chance to talk something about the environment of my hometown——Gaoyu. The title of my speech today is “Please care of our home——the earth.”
Do you know Gaoyu? It’s very beautiful and the air there is fresh. Every year, its natural environment attracks large numbers of people who are from all walks of life. For, the soil in Gaoyu is well-known in China, a lot of businessmen come here to open up factories. When they’re producing, they’re pouring all kinds of waste things into the river all the time. So the environment around us gets worse and worse.
Besides the factories, more and more people pour the waste water onto the ground, cut down trees, throw litter about and so on. Although the cleaners are very hard working, the streets are still dirty. For example, there’s much gum on the ground. It’s difficult for them to clean up. Nobody knows the reason that many young people think chewing gum is fashionable and cool.
At the same time, the white pollution is one of the world’s most important environment problems. So is Gaoyu. You can see the plastic bags here and there. From now on, we should not use them as often as possible. And you can use a basket or box instead of them. You see, it’s easy to make a contribution to protecting our environment.
Acid rain is becoming a big problem all over the world as well, especially in the development countries of modern industry. Many fishes and trees are killed by it. So the birds have nowhere to make houses, they will die soon. As a result, the human beings are punished. I’m happy there’s no acid rain in Gaoyu now and never, ever.
Let us start to develop a beneficial relationship between people and nature right from this moment. With this new start, I believe that our children and our children’s children will live in a new age of green trees, clean air, blue sky and an even more promising world!
That’s all, thanks for listening!
